Canoe School
17th – 23rd January 2010(School Holidays) – Whanganui River
The School is designed to offer Scouts 13+, Venturers and Rangers 14+ the opportunity to learn the technical skills required to master the elements of canoeing. Rovers and Leaders may also attend, but preference is given to youth members.
The School is initially based at Taumaranui for a few days training before proceeding down the Whanganui River to Pipiriki, covering 145 kilometres and shooting 197 rapids. Its tough but its awesome.
No previous canoeing experience is required but you must be able to swim confidently in clothes and lifejacket.
Start thinking warm weather, canoeing, mud fights, and great scenery, something you should not miss. Check out

Fee will be approximately $250.

PROGRAMMES FOR THE FUTURE
Call for contributors. As you will have seen in the notice from Chris, I am moving my attention to the development of fundraising and marketing. This will mean a change to the way the current programmes are produced.
The National Section Leaders will take the programme planning around the country at set times throughout the year. The first was in Auckland on the 11th July, the next one scheduled for 30th January 2010 in Christchurch and the following one in Wellington on 26th June 2010.
If you are in any of these main centres, or a short drive away then please put your hand up to assist with the development of these programmes.
It is extremely important that we maintain the high quality of the current programmes and challenge them as we go.
The National Section Leaders are looking for people to help with, developing ideas, producing activities, compiling the programmes and peer reviewing them.
If you can help in any area of these requirements please contact the appropriate section leader and offer your help.

Thanks to all who have already helped over the last three years, it has been a pleasure working with and for you.
